Existing facility enhancements and new jobs

PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County is pleased to announce the expansion of Winterville Machine Works, a long-time Pitt County manufacturer providing engineering, precision machining, welding and fabrication services.

Winterville Machine Works, established in 1957 and headquartered in Winterville, N.C., will

invest $474,640 to renovate its existing 57,038-square-foot facility and is expected to create nine new jobs as part of the expansion.

“The Winterville Machine Works expansion project will position the company for additional growth in Pitt County and strengthen their leadership position in their industry,” said Kelly Andrews, Pitt County Economic Development Director. “We look forward to continuing to support them and we are proud that they chose to expand at home.”

The project is supported by a $100,000 Building Reuse grant which was approved earlier this month by the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) and announced, along with other projects, by Governor Josh Stein in an article released on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The grant program is managed by the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Rural Economic Development Division, led by Assistant Secretary for Rural Development Reginald Speight.

The Building Reuse grant will support improvements to the company’s existing facility, allowing Winterville Machine Works to continue to strengthen its capabilities, add new jobs, better serve existing customers and attract new customers in various industries.

“This grant strengthens Winterville Machine Works’ ability to invest in our people and our plant, and we’re grateful to the state and local partners who helped make this possible,” said Greig Lane, President, Winterville Machine Works. “By supporting the renovation of our facility, the state is helping us create good manufacturing jobs and continue contributing to the economic vitality of Pitt County and Eastern North Carolina.”

The project was managed by the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) with Pitt County Economic Development providing grant management and existing industry support throughout the project. The Pitt County Board of Commissioners approved support, including a 5% grant match, on Monday, August 3, 2026.
